There are many things to appreciate about this old tonic water factory-turned-bar in Brooklyn…tots, uninterrupted sports, happy hour, but spicy pickle backs and shuffleboard are at the top of my list. For those unfamiliar, the pickle back is a two shot drink consisting of a shot of whiskey followed by a shot of pickle juice (gherkin brine to us Brits) that are knocked back in quick succession. The pickle juice chaser offsets the alcoholic whiskey taste and if you go for the spicy one, provides a nice refreshing after-kick!
The bar itself is completely unpretentious, which is great for chilled drinks and games during the day as well as lively evenings out with a DJ playing most nights. I’m totally in love with Williamsburg, so always recommend popping in for a few drinks at The Whiskey Brooklyn in between brunching, vintage shopping, Smorgasburg…especially during the grizzly winter months.
