One of my major NYC regrets was saying no to a friend’s suggestion of getting a Joe’s pizza on the Saturday night Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper and Lenny Kravitz decided to grab some slices- devastating! Apart from that one and only time I’ve said no to a Joe’s, I’m a complete glutton for the classic New York City pizza- piping hot thin crisp crust with a perfectly bubbled and scorched golden brown cheese topping and tangy tomato sauce beneath. No ketchup or herby mayo is needed, a sprinkle of dried chili flakes on top if you fancy a kick and it’s good to go!
Joe’s really is a ‘Greenwich Village Institution’ having been around since the early 1970s and you can see photos of all the celebrities that have been pasted across the walls (it’s even in Grand Theft Auto if you’re a gamer!) Don’t expect any other topping than cheese (plain or fresh mozzarella) and if you prefer a doughier base, there’s the Sicilian square option. If you’re in NYC, this pizza is a must!
