Lantana

Embracing the London brunch culture, Lantana comes highly recommended and my first visit absolutely hit the spot. I had the English muffin with sausage patty, bacon, fried egg, hollandaise butter, smoked cheddar, spinach and chilli jam…a very posh version of a sausage & egg McMuffin without the drive-through guilt. The restaurant is very snug, teas were served from cute electric blue pots and the toasted banana bread with mascarpone, banana custard and salted chocolate crumb was the top banana of a great meal. Not usually one to revisit a restaurant, I found myself back again a month later craving the muffin dish…however, this visit was unfortunately tainted. Whilst queuing for our table, I saw the chef walking back into the restaurant with a Tesco shopping bag crammed with smoked back bacon rashers, I could only assume ready to go in all the dishes. I don’t expect organic and high quality ingredients from everywhere I eat, but seeing this really did ruin the illusion.
